artist date

My friend and I have just stated a weekly babysitting trade. I watch her little one for a couple hours while she goes to class on Tuesdays and she comes and watches Malcolm on Thursdays. I like this set up. We are helping each other raise our children and allowing a little time for personal growth. So now I get to start looking at Thursday afternoons as artist dates. Julia Cameron writes that "An artist date is a block of time, perhaps two hours weekly, especially set aside and committed to nurturing your creative consciousness, your inner artist." Read more about artist dates in Cameron's book,
The Artist's Way.

Last Thursday I went on a little drive to Purl. It ended up being about an hour drive from my house. Driving down to Soho took a little longer than I imagined. But it was a nice drive, just after a little bit of rain clearing the air, and with some of my favorite radio. The shop was filled with so many beautiful fabrics. So many possibilities. So many things to think about. I have been checking in periodically at the purl bee and it was delightful to be in the space where some of their great ideas originate. Hurray for Purl, hurray for Thursdays, hurray for artist dates, hurray for babysitting trades!
